If we do not use Nuclear energy as an alternative to other sources which are harmful to the environment, then we do not have much of any other choice left. Solar Energy could be useful, but it would still not be enough for the majority of power needs; Wind and Hydroelectricity require adequate location and potential which India doesn't have completely.
Nuclear energy is in fact the most sustainable form of renewable energy, because with proper uranium supplies which can easily come from Central Asia, it can produce more energy than all other sources, and with proper safety procedures and…  Read more precautions, one need not worry about environment hazards, as nuclear energy only may affect the environment if some critical malfunction occurs in a nuclear reactor. Otherwise, it is quite safe and quite useful, above other forms of renewable energy. Not to mention, cheap.
