No. For a first offence they should be sentenced to 7 years, a repeat offence should result in life imprisonment. Also, they should get sufficient recourse to appeal the sentence in case they feel it is an unfair judgment.

 @8HDTZ6XAam Aadmianswered…4yrs4Y

Depends on the severity of the situation. Few years in jail should suffice for low to mid level traffickers

 @9D2F5CZanswered…9mos9MO

Maybe rather understand why they did it and send them to a psychiatrist and then to jail

 @9CR4WRVBharatiya Janataanswered…10mos10MO

No , if they are repeated offenders give them life sentence, else first time caught a strict punishment is enough.

 @9CR4NF2Bharatiya Janataanswered…10mos10MO

If we kill them trafficking will not stop we want to study his mindset,were he grown up and what activities he is doing, want to know from him and stop future trafficking

 @9CQG7F7answered…10mos10MO

Yes if they are at the top of drug mafia hierarchy. No if it's a street vendor.

 @9CQ5ZWJIndian National Congressanswered…10mos10MO

depends on the level low quantity should be imprisonment for less years n vis a vis

 @9CQ5PVFBiju Janata Dalanswered…10mos10MO

Depends - on the kind of drugs, and the scope of the drug traffickers role in the chain of command.

 @9CPZLYLBharatiya Janataanswered…10mos10MO

As long as they are higher up in the hierarchy,death penalty for low hanging fruits that are there just for some quick money should be given some other rigorous punishment.

 @9CPXJ5HBharatiya Janataanswered…10mos10MO

Should be jailed but not death penalty unless the drugs trafficked by him resulted in death of other person.

 @9CPR847Independentfrom North Carolina answered…10mos10MO

I believe social workers and the government should work with them and reincorporate them with society

 @99B8Z59Bharatiya Janataanswered…1yr1Y

No, death penalty would be too harsh. But they should receive no mild penalties for it.

 @9987HWCanswered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only if someone died from their intention to kill that person with a drug.

 @994M2CMCommunistanswered…1yr1Y

First of all, i want to legalization of all drugs and narcotic substances and i oppose death penalty

 @8XCLM45Independentanswered…2yrs2Y

Drugs should be decriminalized so that there is no scope for drug trafficking and individuals get full freedom

 @8VXS43LIndependentanswered…3yrs3Y

No. Indian law is very ambiguous in determining who is a drug smuggler or not. Rather we should aim to decriminalise all drug use and peddling and legalise drugs.

 @8S4DL54answered…3yrs3Y

If there is proof someone died from the drugs they trafficked then sentencing them in prison for some years (15-20) with fine.

 @8S3C6JWanswered…3yrs3Y

depends on the type of drugs they were pedalling, and since how many years they were into that business, and if they were repeated offenders. mostly they should be sentenced to life unless they have committed other crimes along with drug trafficking.

 @8KBSNSPBharatiya Janataanswered…4yrs4Y

 @8D9YLN3Bharatiya Janataanswered…4yrs4Y

Depends on how high up in the system they are - many at the bottom are victims

 @8QM3R53answered…3yrs3Y

No death penalty is not a solution to crimes. There should be regulation of drugs instead of making it criminal offence

 @8QK7X57answered…3yrs3Y

No, rather they should ve sent to rehabilitation centres for their betterment.

 @8QCVXDFAam Aadmianswered…3yrs3Y

If the magnitude of their crime is very high, i.e. if they are serial drug peddlers or masterminds, only then this option may be considered. Otherwise not.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

Would legalizing certain drugs diminish or increase the need for severe penalties for trafficking harder substances?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

Can you imagine a future where drug addiction is treated solely as a health issue rather than a criminal one; what would that look like?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

What do you believe is the root cause of drug trafficking, and how can society address it without resorting to capital punishment?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

How might cultural differences shape a country's stance on the death penalty for drug traffickers?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

Is there a moral line that divides drug trafficking from other capital crimes, and should this affect the punishments imposed?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

Considering the rise of opioid addiction, what measures do you think are most effective in combating serious drug crises?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

In what ways do you think the threat of a death penalty affects a drug trafficker's decision to engage in that crime?
