Fracking is the process of extracting oil or natural gas from shale rock. Water, sand and chemicals are injected into the rock at high pressure which fractures the rock and allows the oil or gas to flow out to a well. Fracking is not occurring in India yet. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that India has 96.4 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of unproven, technically recoverable shale gas. While fracking has significantly boosted oil production, there are environmental concerns that the process is contaminating groundwater. Critics of fracking say it pollutes underground water supplies with chemicals, releases methane gas into the atmosphere, and can cause seismic activity. Proponents of fracking say it will drop oil and gas prices in Spain and lead to energy independence.

Yes, but the government must concurrently focus on clean energy sources too.
@9884LCH1yr1Y
We should focus on sustainable energy and extract oil gas in very less amount.
@8QQ89GSIndependent3yrs3Y
Yes, but for less than a decade while spending and adopting heavily on renewables
@9FMZP8H7mos7MO
No India should pursue nuclear energy instead.
@9CSY36BBharatiya Janata9mos9MO
Do not have sufficient knowledge on the topic
@9CQWL3NBharatiya Janata9mos9MO
Yes, but we should aim at rapidly scaling up our renewal energy production
@9CQLR65Indian National Congress10mos10MO
@9CQJVH410mos10MO
I don't have idea on this subject
@9CQHGHWIndependent10mos10MO
Yes, but we should fund research for more sustainable energy
@9CQH6WJBharatiya Janata10mos10MO
It depends whether country belongs to Annex 1 or Annex 2, the categorisation made under Kyoto protocol. So for Annex 1 countries, mainly developing, it should be allowed. For developed countries, it should only be allowed if it does not affect the carbon sequestration and let the carbon escapes from the underground wells. It follows the idea of historical and differentiated responsibility and respective capabilities
@9CQB3CQIndependent10mos10MO
Yes, but we need .ore research to pursue more sustainable resources and not in. A heavy populated area and also increase oversight
@9CQ75SZ10mos10MO
@9CPZZSLIndependent10mos10MO
Yes but only as a stopgap measure towards nuclear and renewable energy.
@9CPZLYLBharatiya Janata10mos10MO
Yes use of fracking as well as extraction of natural resources should be allowed in a developing country like ours.It is the responsibility of developed countries to aid in climate conservation.Developing countries should also be responsible but the onus lies on the developed world as they are the ones who grew on the exploitation of these resources.
@9C8CFNB11mos11MO
Yes, while we gradually shift to cleaner energy.
@9BVSN3L12mos12MO
should be checked with experts first and see how profitable is
@9BSQN4T12mos12MO
Yes, but there must be some limitations and alternatives as well, especially for a country that has a huge population and the use of oil and other resources are at its peak we should also find an alternative to sustainable energy as well.
@997C3GTIndependent1yr1Y
I do not have an education on subject matter.
@97Q6ZJZ1yr1Y
Yes and also fund sustainable energy
@95WHXRLIndependent2yrs2Y
Only to the benefit of the local population
@8Z3J2C32yrs2Y
Nukes. Use 'em. Nukes. No more fossil fuel. Nukes.
@8XXCPCZBharatiya Janata2yrs2Y
Lacks knowledge in this regard
@8W6GMWP3yrs3Y
Yes, but more attention should be paid to sustainable resources
No, we should use eco- friendily technology
Yes, but only after stringent environment regulations check
Yes but with strong safety measures to ensure water isn't polluted
@8SSTJDN3yrs3Y
At the same time dependency on fracking must be reduced and to the amount it is necessary must be done.

@92JXK3J2yrs2Y
In the short term, but begin to slowly transition to cleaner alternatives.
@93G2RP72yrs2Y
Yes, as long as it doesn't damage the environment or water supplies
@93CS3TH2yrs2Y
Yes. Fracking is a better alternative to coal
@8QQ5NLZ2yrs2Y
No, research has concluded that fracking is harmful to the population and environment
@7PTCG382yrs2Y
Yes, but only with increased oversight and not in heavily populated areas
@7NHW7HN2yrs2Y
Yes, but we should still pursue safer ways of resourcing
Deleted2yrs2Y
Yes, but with more oversight and rigorous adherences to safety procedures to prevent and manage accidents, since fracking leads to environmental or health issues. There should be more research to measure the long-term effects it has on the environment, and on human health.

Yes, but increase regulations and oversight, and provide more scientific research to measure the effects it has, short and long-term, on us and to the environment. However, if it keeps getting worse, then phase it out and move towards better energy sources, such as nuclear and renewable energy.

Yes, but increase oversight to avoid oil spills, and find a way to continue the process in such a way where it possess no threat to the environment.
