Should the government guarantee wage employment to every low income household?
The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) is an Indian law that aims to guarantee the 'right to work' and ensure livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. The statute is hailed by the government as "the largest and most ambitious social security and public works programme in the world". The more comprehensive survey of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, a ‘Supreme Audit Institution’ defined in Article 148 of the Constitution of India, reports serious lapses in implementation of the act.

It totally depends on the family financial history and willingness of the person to be productive. Also this at times leads to corruption involving politicians and local authorities.

Yes, but eliminate the extreme bureaucratic overhead and corruption
@98G5Z9YIndependent1yr1Y
It should be reimplemented to make it as corruption free as possible.
Yes, but for limited time period within that they find a job own their own

Yes, but the federal government should work with the state government in which local administration shall provide the means of employment while wages funded by the federal government and there should be strict surveillance on the financial accounts to ensure that rural people get their wages.

Instead of guaranteeing wage labour which the government is not able to do, use direct benefit transfer instead

The government should be able to provide decent education at low or free of cost. This can also include vocational training based on jobs available in the government sector and private sector. Scholarship should be provided to EWS or based on economic condition rather than caste based reservation. Later, the government can also provide a nominal pay to skilled unemployed youths for a max of 12-18months. This is the period where they can look for jobs and also be able to sustain themselves. Beyond this period it is considered incompetency of the person.

The MGNREGA lacks in implementation clarity. Every good project proposed by the gon=vt. ends up in the hands of corrupt local politicians. Thought should be given to implement such projects through NGOs.

Rather the government should create more skills so that the concerned population can find jobs based on their skills rather than depending on schemes like MNERGA which is ultimately widening the Fiscal Deficit.
@SCWW633yrs3Y
Yes with fool proof systems in place to eliminate corruption and misappropriation of funds
