How much influence do you believe citizens should have over laws that govern them compared to elected officials?

The citizens should have control over the laws but they should be checked by the parliament. The laws made should resonate with the society and support the development in a positive direction.

Citizens should have enough influence because a few elected officials cannot decide the opinion of the entire population. At the same time owing to the literacy rate of the country it is important to ensure that illiterate are not swayed by the whims of the elected officials which can be detrimental to the politics of the country.
