Yes, but they must perform community service on a daily basis. They must recieve moral education, scientific thought making capacity and humility and compassion. In case any poor person who stole to feed his/her kids has been arrested due to calumny, the poor family must be provided free education facilities under the government as compensation shortly after their injust term.

No. Releasing such individuals who have been hardened by their inner hierarchy will be wrong and dangerous for all parties involved. Rather a smooth transition process should be created where said criminals are granted skills training and education to re-integrate into the society.
