Abortion is a medical procedure resulting in the termination of a human pregnancy and death of a fetus. In India abortion is only available to women who have been raped, whose pregnancy poses a risk to their health or there is a risk that the child will be born with a severe handicap. The procedure is only allowed within the first twenty weeks of pregnancy.
