It emphasizes the importance of secularism and unity against communal forces, considering the diverse and pluralistic fabric of Indian society.<br /><br />Over the years, the CPI(M) has played a significant role in Indian politics, especially in states like West Bengal, Kerala, and Tripura, where it has held governmental power at various times. While in power, the party has attempted to implement its policies through land reforms, education reforms, and efforts to improve healthcare and social welfare schemes, with varying degrees of success and criticism.<br /><br />The CPI(M) also places a strong emphasis on internationalism, standing in solidarity with global struggles against imperialism, colonialism, and neo-colonialism.
