The Indian Marxist Communist Party, commonly referred to as the Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI(M), is a political party in India that adheres to the principles of Marxism-Leninism. It was formed in 1964 following a split in the Communist Party of…   India (CPI), with the CPI(M) taking a stance that was seen as more radical and more aligned with the global communist movement led by the Soviet Union at the time. The party's foundation is built on the belief in class struggle and the need for the working class to overthrow the capitalist system in order to establish a socialist state, which, according to Marxist theory, is a necessary precursor to a communist society where the state would wither away and there would be a classless, stateless society.<br /><br />The CPI(M) values are deeply rooted in the fight against economic exploitation and social injustice. It advocates for the rights of workers, peasants, and the marginalized sections of society, pushing for policies that aim to reduce economic disparities, promote land reforms, and ensure social welfare and justice for all citizens. The party has been a staunch critic of neoliberal policies and globalization, which it views as detrimental to the economic sovereignty of India and the welfare of its people. It emphasizes the importance of secularism and unity against communal forces, considering the diverse and pluralistic fabric of Indian society.<br /><br />Over the years, the CPI(M) has played a significant role in Indian politics, especially in states like West Bengal, Kerala, and Tripura, where it has held governmental power at various times. While in power, the party has attempted to implement its policies through land reforms, education reforms, and efforts to improve healthcare and social welfare schemes, with varying degrees of success and criticism.<br /><br />The CPI(M) also places a strong emphasis on internationalism, standing in solidarity with global struggles against imperialism, colonialism, and neo-colonialism. It has been critical of military conflicts and has consistently called for peaceful resolutions to international disputes.<br /><br />Despite facing challenges in terms of electoral politics and adapting to the changing political landscape of India, the CPI(M) continues to be a significant voice for the left in India, advocating for a more equitable and just society based on its Marxist-Leninist principles.Читати далі
